{"product_id":"farmer-decision-making-for-climate-smart-farming-9781835458532","title":"Farmer decision-making for climate-smart farming","description":"\u003cp\u003eDespite national and international efforts to address emissions from farming and food, agricultural systems have failed to decarbonise at an appropriate rate to meet emissions reduction targets by 2030 and 2050. Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) reflects the range of practices and technologies that could be employed at the farm level to both abate emissions whilst maintaining or enhancing food production. This chapter examines the extent to which farmers and farm households can change to accommodate these goals and adopt CSA measures with a focus on the constraints that need to be addressed to improve adoption of these measures. These include perceptual, institutional, social and economic constraints.
