The wild pig (in its wild, feral and domestic guises) is used as a comparative probe because its ecological and social plasticity reveals the infrastructures, ethical repertoires, governance pressures (from biosecurity to conservation), and affective registers that make animals more or less “huntable.” Drawing on a variety of approaches, contributors combine ethnography with attention to infrastructures, disease regimes, governance, aesthetics and digital afterlives of hunts to address urgent contemporary themes.
