Horse Mandalas / Mandala Horses
Regular price $14.95 Save $-14.95Meanwhile, designing and coloring mandalas is an activity that has been around for centuries.
The 46 original designs in this charming coloring book bring together the inspiration of horses — their beautiful lines, thrilling movement and sense of freedom — with the centering esthetic and timeless beauty of mandalas. Author, illustrator, and horse trainer Miriam Nieuwe Weme created these patterns using images of horses and the traditional rotational symmetry of the mandala design. Some of the horse mandalas are complex and intricate, others are simpler, awaiting the addition of reader’s own embellishments and creativity.
Miriam Weme has loved horses since she was a little girl. Creating the mandalas featured in this book was a profoundly comforting and inspirational experience for her, and she hopes readers/artists interacting with the book will have the same experience as they color them in and make them their own.
Whether horse enthusiast, budding artist, adult or child, this coloring and design book gives readers an opportunity to bring out colored pencils and paints and let these unique mandalas take them on a wonderful journey!

The Civil War Paintings of Mort Künstler Volume 3
Regular price $18.95 Save $-18.95For nearly thirty years, Mort Kunstler has focused his considerable artistic talent on interpreting the Civil War. In crafting his work to reflect poignant moments or critical instances of the conflict, he has turned to leading historians and scholars such as Henry Steele Commager, James McPherson, William C. Davis, and James I. Robertson Jr. for informative details that he has then translated on canvas to create an indelible image of this defining ordeal in America's history. More than 160 of these images supplemented by preliminary sketches, early studies, and photographs of works in progress are the basis for the four volumes in this series.

The Civil War Paintings of Mort Künstler Volume 4
Regular price $18.95 Save $-18.95For nearly thirty years, Mort Kunstler has focused his considerable artistic talent on interpreting the Civil War through his paintings. In doing so, he has turned to leading historians and scholars for information that he has then translated on canvas to create an indelible image of this defining ordeal in America's history. More than 160 of those images—supplemented by preliminary sketches, early studies, and photographs of works in progress—are the basis for the four volumes in this series. Volume 4 follows the course of the war from the battle of Gettysburg (July 1–3, 1863) through the end of the war at Appomattox (April 9, 1865). The march through Virginia and Tennessee and Georgia, culminating at the battle of Chickamauga, the Atlanta campaign, the battles of Franklin and Nashville, Sherman's March to the Sea, the North's rampage through South Carolina, and battles through North Carolina all ended in a parlor in a house at an obscure railroad crossroads.

The Civil War Paintings of Mort Künstler Volume 4
Regular price $44.99 Save $-44.99This final volume of Mort Künstler's Civil War paintings covers the almost two-year period from the last shots fired at Gettysburg to the conclusion of the war and the beginning of national restoration. This time was punctuated with costly clashes at various crossroads in Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee. While the outcome of the war seemed inevitable, final victory proved to be as elusive as it had been since the first shots of the war.
Events from the summer of 1863 to the spring of 1864—Ulysses S. Grant's victory at Vicksburg, the aftermath of Gettysburg, the Confederate raid into Indiana and Ogio, the Confederate attack at Chicakmunga and the siege of Chattanooga, and Grant's appearance in Washington as general in chief—are portrayed by Künstler's The Glorious Fourth, Veterans of Gettysburg, Morgan's Ohio Raid, Eye of the Storm, and White House Gala.
The artist's brush shows a countryside in flames after the battle of the Wilderness, with Grant's line advancing toward Petersburg, where Lee's army is trapped, and William T. Sherman leaving Atlanta to march almost unopposed across Georgia toward Savannah in No Turning Back, The Bloody Angle, and "War Is Hell!"
The ruination of the Confederate Army of Tennessee at Spring Hill, Franklin, and Nashville in late 1864; the capture of Fort Fisher near Wilmington, North Carolina, in January 1865; and the surrender at Appomattox Court House are portrayed in Confederate Crossing, Bringing Cleburne In, The Gunner and the Colonel, "We Still Love You, General Lee," and Salute of Honor.
In assessing this volume of paintings, Professor James I. Robertson comments, "No artist is more aware of the Civil War's human emotions than Mort Künstler.... [He] has that rare talent of not only capturing on canvas a moment in time; he has an enviable ability to bring a scene alive and give it feeling. years of effort and dedication have made the name Mort Künstler the hallmark of Civil War art."

The Civil War Paintings of Mort Künstler Volume 1
Regular price $18.95 Save $-18.95For nearly thirty years, Mort Künstler has focused his considerable artistic talent on interpreting the Civil War. Relying on leading historians and scholars, he translates the details of their work onto canvas to create an indelible image of this defining ordeal in American history.
The Civil War Paintings of Mort Künstler presents more than 160 Civil War paintings in four volumes that parallel the history of the war. This first volume covers the period from the firing on Fort Sumter in April 1861 to the battle of Antietam (Sharpsburg) in September 1862. During this time, people of the North and the South slowly began to understand that this would not be a short conflict but rather a war the likes of which the world had never known.
The confidence with which the Confederate states began their fight for independence is seen in Künstler’s Moonlight and Magnolias, Blessing of the Sword, Charleston—Autumn 1861, and Guns of Autumn. The hard realities of the war can be seen in his Winds of Winter, The Fight at Fallen Timbers, “. . .They Were Soldiers Indeed,” With a Rebel Yell, and “Raise the Colors and Follow Me.”
History comes alive in Künstler’s paintings. His portrayal of the war through images of people and events brings dimension and character to them. Whether the subjects of these works are field commanders or men in the ranks, his brush conveys their battlefield courage, their stamina in the field, and their devotion to their leaders and their causes.

Art at Lincoln Center
Regular price $75.00 Save $-75.00Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Lincoln Center
Twentieth-century masterpieces from two world-renowned collections
From their inception, the Lincoln Center Public Art Collection and the List Print and Poster Collection have looked toward the future, anticipating with uncanny accuracy both the most significant developments in the art of our time and the artists who would lead the way to them.
Art at Lincoln Center is the first book ever to offer a spectacular and comprehensive tour of both outstanding collections, each of which features numerous masterpieces from the greatest artists of the twentieth century. This elegant, full-color volume includes pieces by Jasper Johns, Marc Chagall, Alexander Calder, Henry Moore, Auguste Rodin, Helen Frankenthaler, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, and many others.
As fascinating as the art itself are the stories of the creation of these two astounding collections. This compelling account takes you backstage to witness the conception and development of one of the great art projects in history. Revisiting an era before art auctions were reported in the business section and Christie’s and Sotheby’s were featured on the evening news, you’ll meet the architects, collectors, benefactors, and advisors who made art a presence at Lincoln Center, including Philip Johnson, Vera List, Museum of Modern Art director Albert Barr, and many more. You will join these heroes of Modernism as they take on conservative politicians and critics in a suspenseful struggle peppered with provocative issues, inspiring discoveries, and still-relevant discussions about the relationship of fine art to the larger world.
You will also find engaging anecdotes about a number of major works and the artists who created them—including the stories behind Marc Chagall’s gigantic paintings, which adorn the front of the Metropolitan Opera House; Henry Moore’s Reclining Figure, the centerpiece of Lincoln Center’s outdoor collection; and how a breakthrough work by a little-known downtown artist named Jasper Johns became a landmark for an uptown institution.
Complete with a catalogue raisonné of the entire List Print and Poster Collection, Art at Lincoln Center is an indispensable addition to the artbook collection of Lincoln Center patrons, art connoisseurs, print and poster collectors, and anyone interested in the ideals and realities of art in public places.

Leonardo's Lost Princess
Regular price $25.95 Save $-25.95In late 2010, art collector Peter Silverman revealed that a "German, early 19th century" portrait he had bought for $19,000 was, in fact, a previously unknown drawing by Leonardo da Vinci—an exquisite depiction of Bianca Sforza, rendered 500 years ago. In Leonardo's Lost Princess, Silverman gives a riveting first-person account of how his initial suspicions of the portrait's provenance were confirmed repeatedly by scientists and art experts. He describes the path to authentication, fraught with opposition and controversy. The twists and turns of this fascinating, decade-long quest lead from art history to cutting-edge science, and from a New York art gallery to Paris, Milan, Zurich, and ultimately a Warsaw library where the final, convincing evidence that the portrait was indeed by da Vinci was found.
- Takes an up-close look at the workings of the art world and at figures ranging from dealers and connoisseurs to a suspected forger
- Discusses current scientific techniques used to investigate and authenticate works of art, such as carbon dating and cutting-edge photography
- Uses Silverman's drawing as an entree into Leonardo da Vinci's world: his studio, his style, and his methods
- Explores the intersection of art and science in the authentication process, involving the work of a man who embodied that intersection
Unearthing the secrets almost lost to history, the book is ideal reading for art lovers and anyone interested in an astounding case of "whodunit."
