La luz de Lucía (Lucy's Light)

An entertaining yet creative way to address and celebrate diversity among young children. Like a multicolor pencil palette, what defines human beings is their uniqueness and their diversity.

Vega and her colored pencils are inseparable. Together they create the most impressive drawings that are showcased in the best museum in the world: the refrigerator at home. Vega uses all the colors you can imagine for her drawings: red, yellow, blue, gold, and more.

One day at school, Vega is immersed in one of her new creations when her friend Alex stops by, and peers into the box of pencils Vega had on her table. “Can you lend me the skin-colored pencil, please?” he asks.

Skin-colored? Vega and Alex wonder why there is such a color in the box.

With curiosity and creativity they explore the diversity skin tones of the people around them, and discover that the “skin-color” can have not just one, but a thousand shades.

In The Map of Good Memories, a young girl takes time to remember her home before her and her family must flee their war-torn city.

Zoe had lived in the city since she was born. She knew every building, every park, every corner of the city. When the war broke out, Zoe, like many others, had to say goodbye to her home and leave without knowing when she might return. Zoe has so many good memories of her city. There was her grandparents' house, which was a shelter full of dreams and games, her old school where she met her friends and loved learning new things, and of course, the downtown park, where she’d spent many Sunday mornings there, playing on the swings, listening to people playing music, and riding her bike.

Just before her and her family leave, Zoe spreads the map of the city on a table and marks all the places where she was truly happy, with the certainty that they will always accompany her.

Lucy’s Light is a tale about the importance of shining as brightly as you can, with the light that we all carry within us and makes us unique.

Lucy is the youngest member of a family of fireflies. She wants to shine like all the others, but she’s too little to head off to light up the forest. Finally, after waiting and waiting, it is Lucy’s turn. She is ready! She can head off to light up the forest, but something is stopping her.

The following evening, when it’s time to set off, Lucy's excitement disappears, and she doesn’t want to leave. Fortunately, her family supports her and encourages her to shine bright and trust herself no matter what. Being aware of one’s talent is difficult, but we must remember that we are unique, and we have so much to share!

Something’s Happening in the City isa charming tale about the simple pleasures of enjoying the big little moments that life offers us every day.

Hannah loves taking her dog, Pippin, for a walk and ambling around the city. Everything is so beautiful in spring! Insects buzz busily through the air, and the sun shines brightly. Today, however, Hannah notices that something is not right; something is going on in the city.

Why is her neighbor, Carol, so distracted as she greets her without even looking into her eyes? And those children sitting on that park bench, why don't they talk to each other or play?

Pippin and Hannah, curious, continue walking through the city trying to solve the mystery. Everyone seems to have something on their hands that takes them away from reality!
