Introducing "The Copenhagen School" as a scholarly tradition within Kierkegaard research, this edited volume explicates this influential but never-before defined movement and its methodology. Shaped by a heterogeneous group of scholars in the 20th century, this tradition emphasized the Copenhagen that furnishes the authorship with both its intellectual context and scenes from everyday life; the Danish language and culture that nourish and shape Kierkegaard’s thought; and, not least, the dazzling and inimitable mixture of philosophy, theology, psychology, and poetry that characterises Kierkegaard’s existential contribution to Western culture.
To exemplify this approach, the volume brings together scholars, who work in and continue to develop this tradition today, to illuminate key Kierkegaardian concepts that remain heavily disputed in contemporary scholarship. The book consists of two main parts: 1) The Copenhagen School: a comprehensive historical and systematic overview and articulation of the scholarly movement and method of the "Copenhagen School". 2) Reading and Using the Authorship: a collection of chapters on key Kierkegaardian concepts re-interpreted and re-articulated by means of the Copenhagen approach.
