Everything leaders say and do sends a message. When those messages conflict, employees must decide what matters, what to believe, and whether the organization means what it says.
Employee communication shapes how people understand priorities, experience culture, and decide where to direct their efforts. Yet organizations often manage it as a stream of emails, newsletters, and town halls that compete for employees’ already limited attention, overlooking the messages embedded in leadership behavior and everyday decisions.
On the Same Page shows you how to make employee communication a strategic management discipline. Shel Holtz presents an integrated framework connecting alignment, listening, and leadership counsel with culture, engagement, and the employee and customer experience. Through examples, reflection questions, and practical exercises, you will learn to identify communication gaps, use employee feedback to inform action, connect employees’ daily work to organizational goals, and address inconsistencies between leaders’ words and actions. Measurement tools help you assess communication’s contribution to business outcomes. The framework helps you decide where to focus, what to change, and how to tell whether your communication is making a difference.
For executives, people managers, and communication professionals, this book offers a practical way to build shared understanding, earn trust, and help employees turn strategy into action.
