The General sends an order to soldier ants by sending a special aroma signal that wafted through the many tunnels and caves in the colony. Hundreds of worker ants, together with the soldier ants, rushed through the tunnels to protect the storeroom and their Queen, who was laying eggs. “The art and text complement each other perfectly, creating a world that evokes Latin American magical realism, the visual distinctiveness of Lane Smith’s art, and the worldbuilding of the movie Antz.” —Kirkus Reviews

“This picture book, with a simple structure and narrated to the rhythm of a series of illustrations, tries to recreate the interior of the underground passageways and contributes to make readers aware of the fundamental role that ants play in our daily lives, from their work fighting pests up to their pollination of plants by dispersing seeds and to their contribution to increasing the fertility of the land." —Canal Lector
