Although there has been substantial interest in interreligious and online phenomena in religion-related research in recent years, their intersection has rarely been addressed. One important reason seems to be that online interreligiosity has been assessed with the dialogue paradigm, leading to results that are too volatile or even too conflictual to meet its elaborate standards. In contrast, this study opts for an empirical approach that is more closely tailored to the data. Focusing on Twitter, it has gathered all 25,000 English tweets from 2020 that included the #interfaith hashtag, and analyses them by means of a network analysis. This allows to appreciate the variety of users and map their complex relational structures within the architecture of the platform all while accounting for their different modes of use. Hence, this book not only adds new findings to an under-researched field. It also offers a methodological framework that makes visible those interreligious relations which would otherwise remain unnoticed.
