Abby and Brendan Hollander are not happy. Married for years, their relationship is at a standstill. He works for the state investigating financial crimes and money laundering; she is a writer whose debut novel was a bestseller, but now she’s stuck with writer’s block and unable to finish her second book. Their savings are running out—just like their marriage—so they decide to try couples therapy. The therapist suggests they spice things up, both emotionally and sexually, by downloading Sugar & Spice, the trending app that’s taking the world by storm and which she’s convinced will help them. The app works like truth or dare: if you choose “Sugar,” you must do something spicy; if you choose “Spice,” you must complete a challenge. At first, it works and their relationship improves, but things quickly spiral out of control, and they find themselves caught in a dangerous game of life and death.
