Das Werk bringt eine umfassende Geschichte der englischen Sprache von den Anfängen bis zur Gegenwart einschließlich der außerbritischen Varianten und verbindet die Darstellung von externer Geschichte mit internen grammatischen Veränderungen. Der erste Band enthält eine ausführliche Darstellung der äußeren Geschichte, wobei vor allem die Einflüsse nicht-englischer Sprachen auf die Entwicklung des Englischen hervorgehoben werden. Außerdem wird die Entstehung der verschiedenen nicht-britischen Varianten in Übersee behandelt. Der zweite Teil dieses Bandes ist der englischen Lautgeschichte gewidmet.

Mit der Erstbearbeitung des AGG wird einer der letzten weißen Flecken der Kommentierung im Staudinger geschlossen. Das 2006 erschienene Nebengesetz zum BGB, das der Umsetzung zahlreicher EU-Richtlinien dient, vereinigt arbeitsrechtlichen und zivilrechtlichen Benachteiligungsschutz in einem Gesetz. Gerade weil Letzterer ein Novum ist wird das AGG fast ausschließlich mit der arbeitsrechtlichen Brille betrachtet. Auf ein übergreifendes systematisches Verständnis der Regelungen legt der Gesetzgeber kaum wert . Dabei erlangt auch das zivilrechtliche Benachteiligungsverbot zunehmend praktische Bedeutung. Die aktuelle und fundierte Kommentierung im Staudinger umfasst sowohl den arbeitsrechtlichen als auch den zivilrechtlichen Teil des AGG. Sie legt besonderen Wert auf die Dogmatik des Gesetzes und dessen Stellung im deutschen Zivilrecht ohne dabei arbeitsrechtliche Bedürfnisse aus den Augen zu verlieren.

Die aktuelle Neubearbeitung der 2020 des AGG berücksichtigt die aktuelle Rechtsprechungsentwicklung und setzt sich mit den jüngsten Meinungen im Schrifttum auseinander. Zugleich werden eigene Lösungsansätze für noch ungeklärte Fragen beantwortet.

Die 13. Auflage des eingeführten Lehrbuchs erscheint in völliger Neubearbeitung. Das Werk zeichnet nicht nur die aktuelle Entwicklung von Gesetzgebung, Rechtsprechung und wissenschaftlicher Diskussion auf dem Gebiet des Allgemeinen Verwaltungsrechts einschließlich des Verwaltungsverfahrensrechts nach, sondern ist auch grundlegend neu konzipiert worden. Besonderes Augenmerk wird der fortschreitenden Einwirkung des Europäischen Gemeinschaftsrechts geschenkt. Als neue Autoren konnten die Professorinnen Gurlit und Remmert sowie die Professoren Grzeszick, Jestaedt, Möstl, Pünder, Ruffert und Scherzberg gewonnen werden. Die Neuauflage enthält erstmals die aktuelle JURA-Kartei (JK) auf CD-ROM mit nahezu 5000 kommentierten Gerichtsentscheidungen, die der Leser über die Verweise in dem Lehrbuch zum vertieften Studium heranziehen kann. Unverändert geblieben ist das von Anfang an verfolgte Ziel des Buches: nämlich sowohl den Studierenden und Referendaren als auch der Praxis ein gut lesbares, systematisch ausgerichtetes Lehrbuch auf wissenschaftlicher Grundlage an die Hand zu geben, das gleichermaßen Orientierung und Anregung vermittelt.

Nach vier Jahren erscheint das eingeführte Lehrbuch in neuer Bearbeitung. Die 14. Auflage zeichnet die aktuelle Entwicklung von Gesetzgebung, Rechtsprechung und wissenschaftlicher Diskussion auf dem Gebiet des Allgemeinen Verwaltungsrechts einschließlich des Verwaltungsverfahrensrechts nach. Besonderes Augenmerk wird der fortschreitenden Einwirkung des Europäischen Gemeinschaftsrechts geschenkt. Einbezogen wurde auch das Internationale Verwaltungsrecht. Die Neuauflage enthält die JURA-Kartei (JK) auf CD-ROM mit ca. 5550 kommentierten Gerichtsentscheidungen, die der Leser über die Verweise in dem Lehrbuch zum vertieften Studium heranziehen kann.

Die vorliegende 12. Auflage dieses erfolgreichen und bewährten Lehrbuchs trägt der aktuellen Entwicklung von Gesetzgebung, Rechtsprechung und wissenschaftlicher Diskussion im Bereich des Allgemeinen Verwaltungsrechts und des Verwaltungsverfahrensrechts umfassend Rechnung. Besonderer Wert wurde auf die Berücksichtigung der Rechtsentwicklung im Europäischen Gemeinschaftsrecht gelegt. Für die Neuauflage konnten Professor Dr. Dirk Ehlers, Münster, als neuer Mitherausgeber und Professor Dr. Martin Burgi, Bochum, als Autor des neubearbeiteten Abschnitts "Verwaltungsorganisation" gewonnen werden.

Als 1987 die Bände erschienen, die der Untersuchung von Text und Textwert der Katholischen Briefe gewidmet waren, handelte es sich dabei um ein "Pilotprojekt", wie man heute zu sagen pflegt. Mit Rücksicht darauf wurde das gesamte zur Verfügung stehende Material ausgebreitet, gleich ob es sich um Handschriften mit wertvollem alten Text oder um solche mit dem "Mehrheitstext" des byzantinischen Reiches handelte, der nun zwar keineswegs so monolithisch ist, wie mancher meint, sondern zahlreiche interne Variationen bietet, aber dennoch für das Ziel der Gewinnung des ursprünglichen Textes des Neuen Testaments und die Feststellung seiner frühen Geschichte von sekundärer Bedeutung ist.

Allied Encounters uniquely explores Anglo-American and Italian literary, cinematic, and military representations of World War II Italy in order to trace, critique, and move beyond the gendered paradigm of redemption that has conditioned understandings of the Allied–Italian encounter.

The arrival of the Allies’ global forces in an Italy torn by civil war brought together populations that had long mythologized one another, yet “liberation” did not prove to be the happy ending touted by official rhetoric. Instead of a “honeymoon,” the Allied–Italian encounter in cities such as Naples and Rome appeared to be a lurid affair, where the black market reigned supreme and prostitution was the norm.

Informed by the historical context as well as by their respective traditions, these texts become more than mirrors of the encounter or generic allegories. Today, Gabliani's war memoir centers our attention on an active fault line.
