Die gezielte und sorgfältig dokumentierte Nutzung vorhandener Ressourcen gehört ebenso zum wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten wie die konsequente Entwicklung eigener Ansätze, die zu neuen Erkenntnissen führen. Im Studium bleibt oft wenig Zeit, diese Fragen ausführlich zu behandeln. Das Arbeitsheft setzt hier daher mit einer Orientierung für die zielgerichtete Auswertung wissenschaftlicher Textsorten und für die Beurteilung ihrer Zitierfähigkeit an. Außerdem wird zur Erarbeitung eigener Texte angeleitet, wie sie im Studium verlangt werden, damit perspektivisch auch größere Forschungsvorhaben gelingen. Dafür wird der Weg von der Themenklärung bis zum fertigen Text bzw. zur fertigen Präsentation nachgezeichnet. Es werden typische Probleme der Erstlingswerke besprochen und die Besonderheit des „Sprechens über Sprache“ erläutert.
Im zweiten Teil des Arbeitsheftes wird in das Arbeiten mit Sprachzeugnissen eingeführt. Angesichts der leichten Verfügbarkeit von Text- und Tondokumenten wird bereits in frühen Studienphasen die Arbeit mit Primärquellen erwartet. Das Arbeitsheft vermittelt terminologische und methodische Grundkenntnisse der Editionsphilologie, der Erhebung von Sprachdaten und der Arbeit mit Korpora auf Basis von romanistischen Beispielen.

Die Tarifparteien der Länder haben 2020 eine geänderte Entgeltordnung vereinbart, wodurch statt bibliotheksspezifischer nun die allgemeinen Tätigkeitsmerkmale für den Verwaltungsdienst auch auf Tätigkeiten in Bibliotheken angewendet werden. Dadurch sowie durch allgemeine aktuelle Entwicklungen im Bibliothekswesen ergeben sich in etlichen Entgeltgruppen Veränderungen.

Over the last three decades, Sheba Chhachhi has developed an art practice that traverses the fields of documentary photography, installation, video and new media, creating immersive environments and bringing the contemplative into the political, in both site-specific public art and independent works. She has created a number of large photo-based installations incorporating light, sound and the moving image, and pursued long-term photography projects such as on women-ascetics and the female body. Chhachhi experiments across the spectrum of durational mediums from pre-cinematic animated lightboxes to virtual reality interactivity, as well as in diverse sites: community centres, galleries, shopping malls, public institutions. These experiments are marked by a special interest in exploring relationships with viewers/participants. Since 1999, public art interventions have been a significant aspect of her work.

Arc Silt Dive is about the work of Sheba Chhachhi; it maps her methods, the modes of address and inquiry in her photographs, animated lightboxes, videos, and installations. Editorial anxieties circled around the unavoidable ekphrasis of translating the rich immersive experience of multidimensional installations into flat images, prose text, and verbal description. Yet this change of medium need not be reductive. Rather, it may be seen as a bound moment in the peripatetic trajectory of installations which are frequently reworked and retested at different sites, and face new formal and contextual dilemmas in each. The book folds into and extends the ekphrastic aspects of the installation as a form that can transfer or transpose the properties and functions of image and object, spatialize and visualize text, enact a tactile textualization of objects and materials, or become a performative loop that threads or sutures the formal divides of performance, literature, architecture, painting, sculpture, film, photography, and digital composition.The artworks reproduced in this book are not sequenced chronologically; rather, following arcs of connectivity and unexpected conjunction, they are reclustered thematically and visually, re-installed along some of their own overlaps, intersections or displacements. Configural worlds, cracked yet bound in/by affective relationship, the installations convey a sense of recursive reflection in the circulation of images, concepts, concerns, in which little seems to be permanently abandoned and much is reworked, often in technological mediums falling into market-induced obsolescence.

In the twentieth century bridge engineers have seen many changes. Advances in technology, materials and engineers understanding of structural behaviour and methods of analysis has presented opportunities for innovation and have led to increasingly sophisticated solutions to the basic problem of providing a bridge over an obstacle.

In her personal / poetic essay Arqueología de un cisne, Colombian writer Juliana Rozo traces two paths where beauty, trauma and violence intersect in works of art, family lore and historical events in Colombia. One of these paths goes historically through mythological, literary and artistic places in which the swan has had a relevance: starting with the artist Hilma Af Klint, the writer Marcel Proust, and the “Swan Lake,” to Latin American musical references such as Luis Alberto Spinetta and a Colombian film, Cóndores no entierran todos los días by Francisco Norden. The Bauhaus Building in Dessau, designed by Walter Gropius in 1926, represents a "built manifesto of Bauhaus ideas" and is one of modernism’s most important buildings. Together with the associated Masters’ Houses (Meisterhäuser), the Houses with Balcony Access (Laubenganghäuser) in Dessau, and Bauhaus buildings in Weimar and Bernau, it is included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Central America before the Spanish Conquest has often been considered by North American archaeologists as a “backwater” of peripheral importance located between the advanced ancient civilizations of South America and Mesoamerica (Mexican–Maya country). The work gives a detailed analysis of excavations and of artifacts recovered at seven significant prehistoric sites. A critical pioneering effort, the monograph documents cultural changes occurring over a 2,000–year time period—changes in technology, material culture, settlement, subsistence, and socio–political organization.

New scientific methods offer new insights in the past. Promising opportunities for archaeology and historiography are confronted with the challenges of interdisciplinary cooperation between the sciences and the humanities. This volume presents contributions by European researchers, arranged in four sections: fundamental questions of archaeology and biosciences, migrations, transformations, and social structures.

Despite the large number of early Greek inscribed epigrams and their historical and social importance, modern studies have focused either on the literary epigram or (especially after the publication of Hansen’s Carmina Epigraphica Graeca) on the inscribed funerary epigram. The dedicatory inscribed epigram, on the other hand, has received little scholarly attention. As a result, neither a comprehensive commentary nor a study of the different features (archaeological, epigraphical, literary and linguistic) of Archaic and Classical inscribed verse dedications has appeared to date. This book aims to fill such a significant void by offering an interdisciplinary commentary on all the early Attic dedicatory epigrams, i.e. those dating from the 7th through the 5th century BCE. Since the message conveyed by an inscribed epigram can be understood only by taking into account three different semantic systems — that of art and archaeology, epigraphy, and that of language and style — at the same time, this commentary will combine a description of the morphology of the monuments on which the epigrams were engraved with an analysis of the alphabets and dialects used in the poems, while making observations on stylistic and literary data.

This book addresses the many interlocking problems in understanding the modes of performance, dissemination, and transmission of Greek poetry of the seventh to the fifth centuries BC whose first performers were a choral group, sometimes singing in a ritual context, sometimes in more secular celebrations of victories in competitive games. It explores the different ways such a group presented itself and was perceived by its audiences; the place of tyrants, of other prominent individuals and of communities in commissioning and funding choral performances and in securing the further circulation of the songs' texts and music; the social and political role of choral songs and the extent to which such songs continued to be performed both inside and outside the immediate family and polis-community, whether chorally or in archaic Greece's important cultural engine, the elite male symposium, with the consequence that Athenian theatre audiences could be expected to appreciate allusion to or reworking of such poetic forms in tragedy and comedy; and how various types of performance contributed to transmission of written texts of the poems until they were collected and edited by Alexandrian scholars in the third and second centuries BC.

The comic is crucial to every culture: mocking established values, transcending the boundaries of morals and proprieties, dodging the laws of accepted logic. Being based mainly on performance, it takes its natural place in festival, dance and play(-acting). This nature of the comic is expressed far more directly in images than in language. Already in the Corinthian black-figure vase-painting of the 7^th century, comic images hold an important position. Detlev Wannagat analyses their typology and visual strategies, starting from the grotesquely shaped ‘padded dancers’, in which the original performative context of the festival and its alienation appears the most clearly. His close-up focus on these pictures – mostly neglected so far –, draws into clearer perspective the values which they alienate and mockingly transgress.
