Zentrale Themen dieses Buches sind der politische und der gesellschaftliche Kontext, die Auseinandersetzung mit dem führenden Politiker Kleon, das Zusammenspiel von Komödie und Tragödie, besonders das Verhältnis des Arstophanes zu Euripides sowie die Zusammenarbeit des Aristophanes mit den Regisseuren Kallistratos und Philonides. Das letztgenannte Thema wird hier enger mit der Frage nach dem politischen Impetus verzahnt und in größerem Zusammenhang behandelt.

Vor dem Hintergrund der intensiven Debatte über die politische Dimension der Alten Komödie wird in dieser Arbeit die These vertreten, dass es Aristhophanes in seinen Komödien ganz wesentlich auch darum gegangen ist, an der Politik Athens durch Spott und Komik erstgemeinte Kritik zu üben und mit den Mitteln seiner Kunst auf die öffentliche Meinung einzuwirken.

Im Gegensatz zur frühen Forschung zur alten attischen Komödie, die sich fast nur mit den Stücken des Aristophanes befasst hat, befasst sich die moderne Forschung mit mehreren Dichtern, vor allem Eupolis und Kratinos, den nach den alten Quellen bedeutendsten Dichtern der alten Komödie neben Aristophanes. Charakteristisch für die neuere Forschung ist auch die Einbeziehung von Aspekten wie den Aufführungsumständen und der Intertextualität. Dadurch wird die Komödie als Wettkampf zwischen mehreren Dichtern in den Blick genommen.

Diese Ansätze verfolgt Natalia Kyriakidi, indem sie die Rivalitätsbeziehung zwischen Aristophanes und Eupolis untersucht. Vor allem durch die Interpretationen der antiken Scholiasten, die die Behauptungen der beiden Dichter vielfach zu wörtlich genommen haben, hat sich deren Beziehung zu einem Rätsel für die Kommentatoren entwickelt. Dazu gehören gegenseitige Verspottungen, Angriffe und Parodierungen, vor allem in den Parabasen der Stücke. Deren Analyse zeigt, dass diese Rivalitätsäußerungen, wie auch ähnliche Fälle bei anderen Dichtern, kaum ernst gemeint sind. Sie lassen sich vielmehr durch den spottenden Charakter der Gattung erklären, der sich, wie gegen jede Person des athenischen öffentlichen Lebens, auch gegen die Kollegen richtet.

The Penn Greek Drama Series presents original literary translations of the entire corpus of classical Greek drama: tragedies, comedies, and satyr plays. It is the only contemporary series of all the surviving work of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, Aristophanes, and Menander.

Aristophanes wrote most of his comedic masterpieces during the Peloponnesian War, parodying the tumultuous politics and society of that time with trademark innuendoes and bawdy stagings and dialogue. In these plays, Aristophanes brings every rhetorical strategem into play to treat the reader to stories of one man's attempt to create a "war-free zone," the rescue of the imprisoned Peace on the back of a giant dung beetle, a satire of Euripides's sympathies for women, and the hustling and healing of a blind and destitute Wealth in order to redistribute the world's riches.

Translations are by Jack Flavin (Acharnians), Fred Beake (Peace), David Slavitt (Celebrating Ladies), and Palmer Bovie (Wealth). The volume includes an introduction by Ralph Rosen, Professor of Classics at the University of Pennsylvania.

Kullmanns Buch plädiert für eine Korrektur des bestehenden Aristotelesbildes. Es vertritt die These, daß Aristoteles seine Universalität zwar nicht abgesprochen werden kann, daß aber sein naturwissenschaftliches Wirken gegenüber seinem philosophischen Werk im modernen Sinne sowohl in seinem Lebenslauf als auch in dem hinterlassenen Schriftcorpus durchaus im Vordergrund steht. Eine zentrale Bedeutung besitzen dabei Aristoteles‘ ausgedehnten und ertragreichen Forschungsreisen, die er zum Teil zusammen mit Theophrast durchgeführt hat und die sich aus zerstreuten geographischen Angaben rekonstruieren lassen. Nach Auffassung des Vf. ist die Rolle der Biologie in Aristoteles‘ Lebenswerk durch die wechselvolle Wirkungsgeschichte seiner Werke verdunkelt worden.
Mit philologischen Argumenten werden philosophische Systematisierungsversuche der biologischen Schriften einer kritischen Revision unterzogen. Als adäquater Maßstab für ihre Würdigung wird vom Vf. ihr biologischer Aussagewert betrachtet, der sich aus dem Vergleich mit der modernen Forschung ergibt. Besonderes Interesse gilt dabei der Antizipation evolutionsbiologischer Erkenntnisse, indem z.B. Artenentwicklungen metaphorisch als Schöpfung der Natur imaginiert werden.

Wie arbeitet Aristoteles als wissenschaftlicher Autor? Wie nutzt er das Schreiben für seine Argumentation und ihre Darstellung? Dieser Frage geht die vorliegende Monografie für die Schrift De generatione animalium systematisch nach. In ihr entwickelt Aristoteles eine komplexe Theorie, mit der er Fortpflanzungs- und Vererbungsphänomene in der gesamten Tierwelt einschließlich des Menschen erklären möchte. Aristoteles‘ Argumentation ist dicht und wechselt zwischen Beweisführung, Diskursivität und Darstellung. Eine im Rahmen einer Makroplanung insgesamt prozessuale Vorgehensweise schließt die rhetorische Gestaltung einzelner Passagen nicht aus. Insgesamt kann gezeigt werden, wie Aristoteles das Schreiben nutzt, um auf innovative Weise die eigene Theorie zu entwickeln (‚epistemisches Schreiben‘) und gleichzeitig den Weg seiner Forschung zu vermitteln.

Mit der detaillierten Analyse der Bücher I-IV, der systematischen Auswertung der Ergebnisse und einem Katalog signifikanter Formulierungen bietet das Buch einen Ausgangspunkt und ein Instrumentarium für die weitere detaillierte Erforschung Aristotelischer Schriften und gleichzeitig einen Beitrag zur Geschichte der Wissenschaftsliteratur.

Die Zurückweisung, mit der viele frühneuzeitliche Autoren der aristotelischen Naturphilosophie begegnen, geht häufig mit einer emphatischen Aufnahme der hellenistischen Philosophie einher. Verena Dehmer untersucht eine altspanische Handschrift der Biblioteca Nacional de Madrid von Aristoteles zoologischem Hauptwerk »De animalibus« unter Anwendung philologischer, traduktologischer und sprachhistorischer Methoden. In der Einleitung stellt sie die Biologie des Aristoteles mit ihrer Überlieferungs- und Wirkungsgeschichte sowie den historischen Rahmenbedingungen für naturwissenschaftliche Studien auf der Iberischen Halbinsel im 13./14. Jahrhundert dar. Im Hauptteil werden Auszüge aus der Handschrift erstmals ediert, mit dem arabischen und dem (zur Zeit nur teilweise edierten) lateinischen Text von Michael Scotus verglichen und kommentiert. Die Kommentare beziehen sich aus linguistischer und sprachhistorischer Sicht auf einzelne Wörter und Begriffe, syntaktische Erscheinungen oder auch biologisch interessante Passagen oder Fachtermini. Die Autorin erbringt den Nachweis, dass zwei Übersetzer gleichzeitig aus dem Arabischen und dem Lateinischen ins Kastilische übersetzten – eine bislang noch unbelegte Arbeitstechnik. Die vorgenommenen Textkürzungen wurden im Hinblick auf die wissenschaftsgeschichtliche Einordnung hin untersucht. Als Entstehungszeitraum kommt die Wirkungszeit Alfonsos el Sabios (1221–1284) in Frage, wenngleich andere Auftraggeber als der König selbst diskutiert werden.

Das vorliegende Werk ist ein weiteres Zeugnis von Brentanos lebenslanger Auseinandersetzung mit Aristoteles, seinem philosophischen Lehrer par excellence. Auch die literarische Fehde mit dem bedeutenden Berliner Philosophiehistoriker Eduard Zeller (1814–1908) währte Jahrzehnte, ja über den Tod Zellers hinaus. In dieser Kontroverse ging es zunächst um Brentanos These vom Kreatianismus des Aristoteles, in der er Zellers Ansicht, der menschliche nous sei Teil des absoluten Denkens der aristotelischen Gottheit und somit ewig, zurückweist und darzulegen versucht, das der nous poietikos von dieser unmittelbar erschaffen wird und somit nicht präexistieren kann. In dieser Auseinandersetzung kommen aber auch ganz unterschiedliche Ansichten über das Wesen der Philosophie und ihrer Geschichte zum Ausdruck. In den Augen Brentanos war Zellers Vorgehensweise ein verkehrter Historismus, während für ihn selbst die Geschichte der Philosophie nur dann eine Berechtigung hat, wenn sie in den Dienst der sachlichen Forschung tritt.

"Aristoteles und seine Weltanschauung" ist Franz Brentanos letztes Wort in seiner lebenslänglichen Auseinandersetzung mit seinem ersten und größten philosophischen Lehrer. Indem er sich auf die aristotelische Metaphysik und hier vor allem auf die Gotteslehre konzentriert, versucht er einerseits zu zeigen, dass die oft als dunkel und widersprüchlich hingestellten Lehren des Aristoteles sich konsistent rekonstruieren lassen, und dass Aristoteles andererseits als ein Vertreter des metaphysischen Optimismus, als ein "antiker Leibniz" also, betrachtet werden kann.

Die sog. Parva naturalia ("Kleine naturwissenschaftliche Schriften") des Aristoteles sind eine erst nach dem Tode des Autors zusammengestellte Gruppe kleinerer Traktate über bestimmte übergreifende Einzelfragen zur Physiologie des menschlichen und des Tierkörpers. Wie funktionieren die verschiedenen Wahrnehmungsorgane, warum schlafen Tiere und Menschen, warum träumen sie im Schlaf, kann man Träume als Vorausdeutung der Zukunft benutzen, warum haben unterschiedliche Tierarten unterschiedliche natürliche Lebensspannen, was geschieht mit dem Körper, wenn er altert, wozu brauchen höhere Tierarten und der Mensch die Atmung? All diese Fragen werden zum Teil auch in anderen biologischen Schriften des Aristoteles behandelt, sind aber in den Parv. nat. thematisch zusammengeführt als Funktionen, die sich aus dem Faktum der Beseeltheit des lebendigen Organismus ergeben. Insofern schließen die Parv. nat. besonders eng an die Schrift De anima an, bieten aber vielfach konkretere, biologisch-mechanische Erklärungen an, die interessante Aufschlüsse über die Erklärungsmodelle des Stagiriten geben.

Zum einen befassen sich die hier versammelten Beiträge mit einzelnen Problemen, die sich aus den Darstellungen der Körperfunktionen ergeben (z. B. die spannende Frage nach der Natur des Lichts im Rahmen der Wahrnehmungslehre, nach der Rolle der Atmung in einer Zeit, die weder einen Begriff noch eine genaue Vorstellung von Gasen hatte). Aber auch seit langem strittige Fragen über den Zusammenhang der Parv. nat. mit den übrigen biologischen Schriften des Aristoteles werden behandelt und neue Lösungsvorschläge dafür angeboten. So scheint es, dass die Zusammenstellung dieser Schriftengruppe erheblich früher erfolgte als man bisher annahm. Schließlich wird auch die Rezeption bei den frühen Kommentatoren (Alexander von Aphrodisias) und im Italien des 16. Jhs eingehender untersucht.

Damit werden die lange Zeit etwas vernachlässigten Parv. nat. stärker in den Fokus der Forschung gerückt und mit zahlreichen neuen Ergebnissen eingehend untersucht.

Aristotle's Poetics is perhaps the most important ancient text on literary theory; he develops and justifies the term 'poetry' for the first time, defines tragedy and epic in particular as genres and provides criteria for assessing the quality of poetry.

The text of the Poetics has been intensively analysed and interpreted since the beginning of modern philology: Considerable progress has been made in researching the textual form and the individual sections, some of which are difficult to understand, particularly in recent times: The transmission has been newly clarified through the re-evaluation of an important manuscript (B) and the Arabic translation, and significant new suggestions for understanding central passages and concepts are available.

This book aims to present this by means of a newly constituted text, a close translation and a philological commentary. In an appendix, sections that are relevant for the reconstruction of the lost part of the Poetics are presented and commented on in two languages.

From antiquity and late antiquity to the Middle Ages and modern times, commentary on Aristotle's writings has been one of the fundamental forms of philosophical activity. This anthology uses selected examples to analyse and interpret key stages of the Greek commentary tradition on Aristotle's writings and their philosophical and cultural-historical significance. The authors analyse both the manuscripts and the transmission of individual writings as well as the reception and further development of Aristotle's philosophy.

The core of the contributions collected here are based on the three-day international conference "Aristotle's Commentaries and their Transmission in Late Antiquity, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance" (26-28 October 2017), which took place at the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures at the University of Hamburg thanks to the support of the Karl and Gertrud Abel Foundation.

In der neueren Forschung gehören die Substanzbücher der Metaphysik zu den meistdiskutierten Aristotelischen Texten. In den letzten zweieinhalb Jahrzehnten entwickelte sich eine umfangreiche Diskussion, die zu einem ganz neuen Bild von der Aristotelischen Substanzlehre führte.

Sie untersucht auf systematische Weise das Wesen der Dichtung und ihre Gattungen, vor allem die Tragödie, aber auch das Epos und, wenngleich knapp, die Komödie. Der aus einer Fülle von Erfahrungen gespeiste, an prägnanten Analysen reiche Text beeinflusste über Jahrhunderte philosophische und literaturwissenschaftliche Debatten. Der hier vorgelegte kooperative Kommentar, verfasst von Philosophen, Altphilologen und Literaturwissenschaftlern, wendet sich an einen unbefangenen, von der verschlungenen Rezeptionsgeschichte unverdorbenen Leser. Für ihn wird der Text mit seinen Begriffen, Behauptungen und deren Begründung entschlüsselt. Das Schlusskapitel wirft einen exemplarischen Blick in die Wirkungsgeschichte.

Die "Politik" des Aristoteles ist der Gründungstext der politischen Philosophie: die erste systematische Abhandlung über den Staat, seine Verfassung und seine ökonomischen Grundlagen. Nach einer Analyse des Begriffs der Herrschaft entfaltet Aristoteles die These, dass der Mensch von Natur aus ein politisches Lebewesen sei. Die staatliche Gemeinschaft wird als eine autarke Einheit verstanden, die das gute Leben ihrer Bürger ermöglichen soll. In Auseinandersetzung mit anderen theoretischen Entwürfen und der Vielfalt bestehender staatlicher Ordnungen untersucht Aristoteles ein weites Themenspektrum, das von Bürgertugenden und Gesetzen über die Einrichtung, den Wandel und die Erhaltung von Verfassungen bis zum Entwurf eines Idealstaates reicht. Der kooperative Kommentar rekonstruiert in 12 Originalbeiträgen die Argumentation des vielschichtigen Textes, bettet die zentralen Fragen in den historischen und systematischen Zusammenhang ein und fordert dazu heraus, die Aristotelischen Lehrstücke kritisch weiterzudenken.

Die vorliegende Studie zeigt, dass Aristoteles eine originelle Konzeption der Zurechnung entwickelt, auch wenn er noch über keinen Ausdruck für Zurechnung verfügt.

Die Frage nach der Zurechnung ist zu verstehen als die Frage danach, (i) unter welchen Bedingungen und zu welchem Grad Handlungen einem Akteur als seine eigenen Handlungen, für die er (moralisch) verantwortlich ist, zurechenbar sind und (ii) inwieweit ein Akteur auch für seine Dispositionen, die seinen Handlungen zugrunde liegen, verantwortlich ist. Aristoteles’ Konzeption ist innovativ, weil er Willentlichkeit weder als notwendige noch als hinreichende Bedingung für Zurechenbarkeit erweist und weil er nicht nur Handlungen, sondern auch Dispositionen, die Handlungen zugrunde liegen, als Zurechnungsgegenstände auffasst.

Die Studie macht die Vielschichtigkeit und Graduierbarkeit des aristotelischen Zurechnungsbegriffs sichtbar, indem sie die Konzeption der Zurechnung auf besondere Arten von Handlungen wie z.B. plötzliche Handlungen, Handlungen aus Zorn (thymos) oder akratische Handlungen anwendet. In systematischer Hinsicht stellt die Studie Bezüge zu Gegenwartspositionen her und zeigt, dass die aristotetelische Position auch für aktuelle Debatten anschlussfähig ist.

Aristotelian philosophy played an important part in the history of 19th century philosophy and science but has been largely neglected by researchers. A key element in the newly emerging historiography of ancient philosophy, Aristotelian philosophy served at the same time as a corrective guide in a wide range of projects in philosophy. This volume examines both aspects of this reception history.

Seine Übersetzungen aus dem Hebräischen, seine Arbeiten zur Beweistheorie und seine christianisierende Aufarbeitung der Kabbalah vereinigte Ricci zu einer eigenwilligen Philosophie, die der der christlichen Dogmatik eine rationale Rechtfertigung an die Seite zu stellen versuchte und den Forderungen des zeitgenössischen Averroismus, wie er an der Universität zu Padua vertreten wurde, gerecht werden sollte. Riccis Werke, zu deren wichtigsten Autoritäten neben Averroes vor allem Giovanni Pico della Mirandola und Moses Maimonides wurden, brachten ihn in Konflikt mit den deutschen Universitäten und gipfelten in einer öffentlichen Kontroverse um die Weltseele, die Ricci mit dem Theologen Johannes Eck austrug. Zum letzten Vorhaben seines Lebens wurde die Aussöhnung von Katholiken und Protestanten, deren Scheitern Ricci endgültig zu einem akademischen Außenseiter werden ließ.

The volume illustrates the ways in which the Aristotelian corpus has been transmitted over time. In particular, it focuses on one crucial, extended moment: the moment when, thanks to the invention of printing, Aristotle’s works became widely available in Latin, Greek, and even in vernacular languages in the late 15th and 16th centuries. At that moment, Aristotle’s authority comes under increasing scrutiny as the new science and philosophy of early modern Europe chart different courses for the future. However, Aristotle is not only an obstacle to be overcome, he also serves as a bridge to the new age especially in the work of Jesuit philosophers and scientists. One way or the other, Aristotle had to be dealt with. He could not be avoided.

The extraordinary books and manuscripts in this volume, selected from the collection of the Martin J. Gross Foundation, demonstrate just how intellectuals of the time received and wrestled with Aristotle. Through commentaries, treatises, lecture courses in schools, and above all in the written marginalia of books, the volume reveals the extent of the age’s engagement with Aristotle. Many of these books and manuscripts have never before been studied, so this is an important invitation to reassess the impact and influence of Aristotle at a point in time when much contemporary scholarship chooses to ignore him.

His gifts of books over a long period of years included any valuable Aristotle items and in 1932 he presented his own library to the University. A bequest at his death in 1944 established a fund which has enabled the library to purchase a number of important additions to the collection.

The very number of the early printed editions in this catalogue—over five hundred—attests to the importance that was attached to the study of Aristotle during the fifteenth, sixteenth, and even the seventeenth centuries. Medieval Latin translations of the texts of Aristotle continued to appear during the Renaissance. The twelfth-century translations of Guilelmus of Moerbeke can be noted in this catalogue as late as 1589; even when a contemporary translation was available and was used, it was not uncommon for the earlier version to be printed with it.

The list of commentators, translators, and editors of the Aristotelian tradition includes the names of many well-known humanists from all over the continent. These men, protagonists of the new learning, nevertheless concerned themselves with that same philosopher who so dominated the teachings of the medieval schools. Another indication of the Aristotelian influence is the great number of translations of his works into the vernacular. The German, Italian, and French versions in this collection, as well as in others, attest to the wide interest in his works in Europe.

Few aspect of medieval and Renaissance civilization were free from the influence of "The Philosopher" and this work is therefore a valuable adjunct to any study of the period. This collection of essays by leading Aristotle scholars worldwide covers a wide range of topics on Aristotle's work from metaphysics, politics, ethics, bioethics, rhetoric, dialectic, aesthetics, history to physics, psychology, biology, medicine, technology. The thorough exploration of the issues investigated deepens our knowledge of the most fundamental concepts, which are crucial for an overall understanding of Aristotle’s work. Moreover, the contributors explore the relevance of Aristotle’s ideas to contemporary issues and provide new perspectives on the study of Aristotle’s thought. The essays of the volume were presented at the plenary sessions of the World Congress "Aristotle 2400 Years," organized by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Aristotle Studies of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, on May 23-28 2016, in commemoration of the 2400th anniversary of Aristotle’s birth. The aim of the congress was to advance scholarship on all aspects of Aristotle’s work, both in philosophy and in the fundamental disciplines of science. The impressive number of 250 papers from 40 countries highlighted the fact that Aristotle’s work continues to exercise an influence on our intellectual lives on a global scale.

In both authors memory is treated as a ‘modest’ faculty: both authors assume the existence of a persistent subject to whom memory belongs; and basic cognitive capacities are assumed on which memory depends. In particular, both theories use phantasia (representation) to explain memory.

To be connected to the original perception the representation has to be taken as a (kind of) copy of the original experience ‑ this is the way Aristotle defines memory at the end of his investigation.
Plotinus does not define memory: he is concerned with the question of what remembers. This is of course the soul, which goes through different stages of incarnation and disincarnation. Since the disembodied soul can remember, so he does not have Aristotle’s resources for explaining the continued presence of representations as changes in the concrete thing. Instead, he thinks that when acquiring a memory we acquire a capacity in respect of the object of the memory, namely to make it present at a later time.

Leading paleontologist J. David Archibald explores the rich history of visual metaphors for biological order from ancient times to the present and their influence on humans' perception of their place in nature, offering uncommon insight into how we went from standing on the top rung of the biological ladder to embodying just one tiny twig on the tree of life. He begins with the ancient but still misguided use of ladders to show biological order, moving then to the use of trees to represent seasonal life cycles and genealogies by the Romans. The early Christian Church then appropriated trees to represent biblical genealogies. The late eighteenth century saw the tree reclaimed to visualize relationships in the natural world, sometimes with a creationist view, but in other instances suggesting evolution. Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species (1859) exorcised the exclusively creationist view of the "tree of life," and his ideas sparked an explosion of trees, mostly by younger acolytes in Europe.

Although Darwin's influence waned in the early twentieth century, by midcentury his ideas held sway once again in time for another and even greater explosion of tree building, generated by the development of new theories on how to assemble trees, the birth of powerful computing, and the emergence of molecular technology. Throughout Archibald's far-reaching study, and with the use of many figures, the evolution of "tree of life" iconography becomes entwined with our changing perception of the world and ourselves.

This book reconstructs the theory of signification implicit in Aristotle’s De Interpretatione and its psychological background in his writing De Anima, a project often envisioned by scholars but never systematically undertaken.

I begin by explaining what sort of phonetic material, according to Aristotle, can be a significans and a phônê. To that end, I provide a physiological account of which animal sounds count as phônê, as well as a psychological evaluation of the cognitive content of the phônai under consideration in De Interpretatione: names, verbs, and assertive sentences.

I then turn to noêmata, which, for Aristotle, are the psychological reference and significata of names, verbs and assertive sentences. I explain what, for Aristotle, are the logical properties a significatum must have in order to be signified by the phonetic material of a name, verb or assertive sentence, and why noêmata can fulfil those logical conditions.

Finally, I elucidate the significans-significatum relation without making use of the modern semantic triangle. This approach is consonant with Aristotle’s methodology and breaks new ground by exploring the connection between the linguistic and psychological aspects of Aristotle’s theory of signification.

Aristotle, Oedipus, and Greek Religion explores an important religious side of ancient Aristotelianism, one which has an impact on contemporary philosophical debates.

Louis F. Groarke shows how an exegetical perspective open to and respectful of Greek Pagan religion allows readers to discover a remarkably different Aristotle than the one to which we have grown accustomed.

To begin with, one must discover what Aristotle (and his school) taught, not by examining isolated passages, but by getting a sense of his philosophy as a whole. One has to make sense of the circumstantial evidence and carefully piece together a coherent technical case for the overall argument.

In each chapter, Groarke considers another aspect of Aristotelian thought; this is in opposition to mainstream opinion which often describes Aristotle as a secret atheist, an agnostic, or as something akin to a modern-day positivist or a reductionist.

The author goes on to show that Aristotle valued religious practice on a personal and social level, that his metaphysics are marked by intimations of the divine, that he provides an epistemological space for both science and religion, that his account of Greek tragedy has an inalienable moral and religious side, and that his account of the origins of cognition is not so far removed from religious scripture.

Aristotle, Oedipus, and Greek Religion is an analysis of universal themes from the viewpoint of an enormously influential ancient thinker, and an adventure into the history of ideas.
