100 Endangered Species is a little book with a big ambition: to highlight 100 endangered species from around the world and the work being done to bring them back from the brink of extinction.
It began as part of the 100-Day Project on Instagram, where the author teamed up with the People’s Trust for Endangered Species to illustrate one new species every day for 100 days.
Endangered species in the book includes:
- Giant Anteater
- Hedgehog Seahorse
- Eurasian Beaver
- Tasmanian Devil
- Reticulated Giraffe

This book has brilliant illustrations, a helpful glossary at the back, and really accessible information. It’s a super book to dip in and out of and to come back to again and again.”—A Pocketful of Books
“100 Endangered Species has the cute appeal of a gift book but an admirably serious purpose. Focusing on a hundred species that appear on the IUCN Red List, it aims to highlight their uniqueness, their plight and the efforts that are being made to conserve them. The graphic illustrations capture the spirit of the animals in a personal way and are accompanied by some fascinating facts that make it fun to browse through"—The Reading Zone
"This would be a super handy reference material in a classroom. Or, if you happen to reside with a tiny professor, perhaps a bedtime story.”—The Tiny Activists

“Give this book to a child and who knows, you might inspire a life-long passion for conservation."—Red Reading Hub
"The illustrations in the book are stunning and the package itself the perfect gift for any child (or adult) interested in protecting and learning about these 100 species which we should be protecting and not endangering. Despite its petite size (not extent) it packs a punch and both the exterior and interior would mean it is one that would sit on my kid’s coffee table."—@booksb4bedtime
“A beautifully creative approach to educating and inspiring children about the plight of the natural world, as well as celebrating threatened species and the people who are protecting them.”—@conservationoptimism
“...a little book that packs a BIG punch! This brilliant introductory collection of 100 animals that are in danger is a powerful reminder of how fragile the planet is. The little book is packed with interesting creatures, succinct text, maps, charts and little snippets on what we can do to help. The design of the book is engaging and the repeating layout makes it easy for children to navigate the page. But it is the illustrations that sing. Rachel hasn’t been afraid to leave white space, or place a piece of art in the corner of a page. It makes the animals stand out starkly against their backdrop, letting them impart their message with courage and simplicity. I love it!”—@bookishwaytoplay
"My children always love information books that have interesting and unusual facts, but especially books that they can read a bit at a time and return to again and again and again. I love that this is educating both teacher and students on the very real issue of endangered animals. This book set out with that ambition, it aims to highlight 100 endangered species from around the world, but also to focus on the work being done to preserve them. This is a hook of urgency, but not one without hope."—@betweenthecoversofagoodbook

This book is also enlightening as I was quite shocked at some of the endangered animals on the list and how little time some of them have left!—@this_sonny_day
