Karsten Schrör, MD.

is professor of Pharmacology and retired Chairman of the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology at the Heinrich-Heine-University in Düsseldorf (Germany). He carried out postdoctoral studies at the universities of Halle, Mainz, Köln (Germany) and the Wellcome Research Laboratories in Beckenham (UK) under the supervision of the later Nobel laureate Sir John Vane. Karsten Schrör held several guest professorships in the USA and was President of the German Society for Pharmacology (2005-2010). He is member of the German National Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina) and Schmiedeberg-Medal Awardee. Karsten Schrör has published extensively in the area of aspirin and prostaglandin research with focus on platelet function, myocardial ischemia and the clotting system.
