A Man of Destiny
In a different time, Vic Kinkaid would have helmed Apollo mission control or helped build Detroit on rolling metal. Instead, Vic is a nondescript middle manager at Samson Trucking, forced to answer to HR Karens and running a failing logistics operation in a crumbling world. He’s a widower who takes solace in reading about the past, particularly his beloved Roman history. Vic figures he’s just about done.
But the world isn’t done with Vic. Shortages and riots intensify as a politically insane Washington stamps down on the American heartland. Then comes Covid-X.
Vic emerges into a fallen world. Institutions are wiped away. The road belongs to predators. And the confused and delusional wait for a rescue that will never come. Now, as mounted raiders sweep across the ruins, sacking towns, taking slaves, and feeding on the remains, Vic reluctantly realizes that he’s the man that history demands. It’s going to take a man with a plan. It will take a man who is willing to do whatever it takes to bring back civilization.
It’s going to take a new American warlord.
Praise for American Warlord by Kurt Schlichter
“There are a lot of novels about surviving the apocalypse, but American Warlord is about rebuilding a shattered world with American grit and determination, from the perspective of the reluctant leader who rises to the occasion and makes the tough calls. It’s bad ass.“—Larry Correia, New York Times best-selling creator of the Monster Hunter International series and author of American Paladin
“Once again, Kurt Schlichter has authored a page-turning thriller full of action, strong characters, and even a touch of humor. It's also unfortunately timely, and disturbingly instructive. Highly recommended!”—Glenn H. Reynolds, founder of Instapundit and Beauchamp Brogan Distinguished Professor at the University of Tennessee School of Law
“A thriller that actually respects its audience, featuring Vic Kinkaid—a competent, history-savvy everyman who defends civilization with an M4, a love of Roman history, and Schlichter’s signature wit. Fast, fun, and fiercely conservative. This book reaffirms why normal Americans are the solution.”—Dana Loesch, host of the Dana Show, best-selling author, and Second Amendment advocate
“Kurt Schlichter, the voice of unapologetic conservatism, gives us a roaring tale of collapse and redemption. Vic Kincaid embodies the fighting spirit of real Americans: learned, lethal, and wry as hell. M4s crack and Roman lessons apply as Schlichter reaffirms an American truth: normal patriots save civilizations. Outstanding.”—Jesse Kelly, host of the Jesse Kelley radio show
“Most post-apocalyptic fiction asks how one man, or a man and his family, survive the wasteland. Kurt Schlichter—a retired infantry officer—asks a much more interesting question: how can American civilization survive and rebuild? His answer, American Warlord, is simultaneously a thrilling adventure novel and a handbook on leadership, logistics, and fighting spirit for patriots.”—Travis J. I. Corcoran, author of Red State Mars
“A commander who uses strategy from John Boyd’s OODA Loop, Roman army discipline, teamwork, and logistics, and an ability to train and lead killers who believe in saving their civilization. Schlichter puts you through your paces!”—Rob Maness, radio host, author, and retired Air Force colonel
“Kurt Schlitchter has presented a scenario that is eerily similar to current events and a bit too plausible for comfort. It’s a great tale of survival with some hard lessons learned by ‘everyman’ Vic as he sorts out his place in a fallen world. Schlichter reminds us that we will all need to embrace our inner Warlord. It's a great story with some fantastic lessons for us all.”—Joe Dolio, author of the best-selling Tactical Wisdom preparedness series and U.S. Marine Corps veteran
“Kurt Schlichter, long a favorite of mine, has crafted a dystopian thriller with a way out, as well as a self-reliant deliverance from those constant ‘do-gooder elites’ we all wish would just stop already! The secret is a return to the first principles and practices of actual common-sense free people. It’s told charmingly, bluntly, and engagingly, as this master raconteur and brave voice has done before.”—Nick Cole, Dragon Award-winning author of Galaxy’s Edge
“Pure adrenaline: America falls, but Vic Kincaid rises . . . smart, droll, and deadly with an M4. Schlichter’s humor cuts deep while reminding us that normal Americans still have the guts to fight back and win. This is mandatory reading for anyone who loves liberty and refuses to surrender.”—Tim Young, American Greatness columnist, Patriot Radio host and commentator
“Schlichter and I were Guardsmen in the '92 L.A. Riots together—that conflagration serving as harbinger of civilization's fragile veneer that comes crashing down in American Warlord, a Mr. Smith Goes to Thunderdome tale where greatness is thrust upon an American everyman who is forced to rebuild from the ashes.”—Chuck DeVore, Texas Public Policy Institute officer and author of novel Crisis of the House Never United
“A salutary reminder that not only is civilization fragile, but that the measure of a man is his ability to defend and restore it.”—H. W. Crocker III, historian and author of Triumph: The Power and the Glory of the Catholic Church, A 2,000 Year History, and WW II thriller Kruger's Korps
