The volume contains a new edition of the third book of the Anthology of Joannes Stobaeus (5th c. CE) that will replace the outdated one by O. Hense published in 1894–1912 (cf. Anthologii libri duo priores, ed. Tiziano Dorandi, Berlin/Boston 2025).

After having drawn up a detailed list of all the Greek MSS of the Anthology, Dorandi analyzes the relationships between these witnesses in order to determine their importance in the establishment of Stobaeus' text. A stemma codicum is drawn for this purpose.

The last two books are preserved in the manuscripts in two very different families. The first family is probably the origin of a further sub-family. The independent MSS have been collated again. The new text is presented according to different criteria from those adopted by Hense and closer to the reality of their transmission. The Greek text is accompanied by a critical apparatus reserved for manuscript readings and for conjectures.

This new edition will give an entirely new and more faithful idea of the third book of the Stobean Anthology.
