Alissa Marie Jordan is Associate Director of the Center for Experimental Ethnography at the University of Pennsylvania, Affiliated Faculty in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology. She is the author of "Haitian Women's Stories of Maternal Medicine, Debt and Hospital Detention", published in Medical Anthropology Quarterly, and creator of "The Shame Herb: Birth and Debt in Hospital Detention" for the American Anthropologist.
