Nicole Meyers is a community builder, self-proclaimed "slow hiker," beer lover, and Maryland native. Her love for the outdoors began at a young age when she realized she would rather camp with the Cub Scouts than craft at the Girl Scout clubhouse.
Her passion for beer started in her 20s while traveling in short stints to the remaining parts of the U.S. that weren’t visited during a 23-state pre-teen family road trip. A standout adventure was her trip to Acadia National Park and Atlantic Brewing Company—the first time she intentionally paired a hike and a brewery together.
A member of the Hiking for Brews Meetup group in 2018 in Baltimore, MD, Nicole became its leader in 2020. Her first guided hike and brewery combo was the Cascade Falls Trail at Patapsco Valley State Park and the Guinness Open Gate Brewery, both of which are included in this book.
The group has evolved to now offer hikes across the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) area, ranging from short, accessible hikes to challenging, all-day adventures—always with an optional brewery stop afterward.
Nicole and her husband, Tyler, now live in Annapolis with their two rambunctious corgis, Soju and Finn.
