This volume brings together a selection of studies by Victoria Arakelova and Peter Nicolaus, reflecting several decades of research into Yezidi religion, history, culture, and identity. Drawing on textual sources, oral traditions, ethnographic materials, and historical experience, the authors explore the complex religious and cultural universe of Yezidism from complementary perspectives. The volume examines fundamental aspects of Yezidi belief and ritual, saints, and religious symbolism, while also addressing the history of the Yezidi sanjaqs, sacred landscapes, persecution and genocide, and the formation of collective memory and identity.
