An ever-growing band of dedicated Chaucer scholars works to promote fuller understnding and appreciation of the remarkable art of Geoffrey Chaucer. Professors Schoeck and Taylor, who in 1960 collaborated editorially on a critical volume on the Canterbury Tales, have joined together again in this volume on other segments of Chaucer's creative output.
In this book, twelve scholars build towards a mature understnading and evaluation of the Troilus, while other contributors deal with The Book of the Duchess, The House of Fame, and The Parelement of Foules.
Professor Richard J. Schoeck is Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Colorado.
Jerome Taylor (1918-1996) was Professor of English and Chairman of the Medieval Area of the Department of English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is co-editor and contributor to Medieval English Drama: Essays Critical and Contextual (University of Chicago Press, 1972). He also published books on Chaucer, Hugh of St. Victor, and twelfth-century European culture.
