This collection is selected from Analysis and Forecast of China's Social Situation (2021), published in Chinese. Chapter one provides an overview of China's social conditions in 2020–2021. This is followed by 19 topical reports on a wide range of social issues written by experts from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and other universities. Chen Guangjin is a research fellow and Director of the Institute of Sociology at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). He is
also the Editor-in-Chief of Sociological Studies. His research focuses on rural sociology, social stratification and mobility, and the class of private entrepreneurs. Chen has published extensively on Chinese society, including Retrospect and Prospect of China’s Rural Modernization and Pioneer in New Economic Fields: A Biography of Gary Becker.
Wang Chunguang is a research fellow, Deputy Director General of the Institute of Sociology at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and Chairman of the Rural Sociology Professional Committee of the Chinese Sociological Association. His research focuses on rural sociology, social policy, migration and migrant populations, social mobility, and poverty. Wang has published extensively on Chinese society, including Constructing Space: A Longitudinal Study of Immigrants from Wenzhou in Paris.
