This publication focuses on the increasingly important subject of collectorship and the art market during the 19th century, viewing it through the lens of the glass arts, which have only been marginally considered to date. Bringing together original contributions, it provides an overview of current research in this field, with case studies from Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and North America. By exploring the interactions between the art market and collecting practices, the volume highlights processes through which glass artworks acquired cultural, historical, and commercial value.
