"Conners deftly articulates how colorblindness and antiblackness coincide, how gender and sexuality announce themselves through formal innovation, and how the state’s understanding of law seeps into cultural production. The result is a tour de force for Latinx studies, queer studies, and legal studies. Conners’s close readings are particularly noteworthy in that they draw attention to how these literatures make felt what can no longer be articulated now when racial difference cannot be overtly acknowledged."
— Amber Musser, author of Sensual Excess: Queer Femininity and Brown Jouissance
