Every culture on earth has myths which provide explanatory frameworks (explaining origins, justifying structures, building identities and indicating appropriate behaviors). Myths persist in contemporary societies, evolving to address modern existential and social dilemmas; one of their most significant roles is their capacity to forge and maintain collective identities. The contemporary global societies provide global myths while other discourses (inspired by them) constitute a more “local” story (because cultural diversity can still be important). The main idea of this volume is to provide research on contemporary mythical adaptations especially as stories dealing with the digitalization or related to some contemporary collective unconscious and archetypes especially in the frame of artistic creations.

Contributors are: Christiana Constantopoulou, Panarari Massimiliano, Giulia Crippa, George Ran Zhao, Serigne Sylla, Piotr Toczyski, Francesco Zuccolo and Eleni Zyga.
