Concepts of conviviality are on the rise: as analytical-descriptive categories or in programmatic form, they offer responses to the oft-cited crisis of the humanities. This volume highlights the central role of literature in this process. It explores literary stagings of conviviality to gain insights for global social practice.

The focus lies on literatures of the Global South, especially Latin America. Post-global phenomena such as pandemic, digitalization, migration, and the overarching challenge of the Anthropocene are experienced there in a particularly condensed form and negotiated creatively. Given these intensified challenges, the literatures of this hemisphere are predestined to artistically explore variants of living together on local, global, and planetary levels.

The volume makes visible the diversity of conviviality models, examines their innovative potential and scalability, and sharpens the literary dimension of the concept by showing how the conditions of community, resilience, and coexistence are explored within fictional worlds.
