Fungicides are used to control plant disease, so any resistance management strategy of practical relevance needs to provide effective disease control. In general, a more intense treatment programme, with higher dosages and/or more applications will exert a higher selection pressure to the pathogen to evolve strains lees sensitive to the fungicides used. In this chapter we explore the evidence relating to the relationship between disease control efficacy and selection for fungicide resistance.
