The wiring up of Asia has triggered off a wide range of social transformations even as the internet itself is transformed by the social and cultural context in which it is embedded. The papers included in this volume analyze various aspects of these social and cultural transformations in spheres ranging from the economy, politics and sexuality in Asia and beyond. While the majority of the papers focus on Asian experience of the internet, the volume also includes papers on Europe, North America and theoretical and conceptual discussions of communication and culture. The contributors to this volume are social scientists, historians and social activists.
