Murder, greed, and rare vintage wines collide in British Columbia’s deadly Okanagan wine country.
When a winemaker is drowned in his own prize-winning vintage, Detective Jasmine Ryder must uncork a conspiracy where every suspect has a taste for murder.
Detective Jaz Ryder thought her first case in Kelowna was brutal. But nothing prepares her for the murder of Paul Delgado, a celebrated vintner found dead in his own fermentation vat, the lid sealed shut above him. With his award-winning wine stolen from the cellar and his winemaker vanished into the hills, Jaz is plunged into the cutthroat world of boutique winemaking, where a single bottle can fetch tens of thousands and a platinum vintage is worth killing for.
As she and partner Lars Nielsen dig deeper, the suspects multiply: a glamorous young wife with secrets, a power-hungry neighbor married to Vancouver's most ruthless defense lawyer, a volatile son cast out of the family business, and a mysterious octogenarian investor with ties to Jaz's own past. When a connection surfaces between the stolen wine and the decade-old murder of Jaz's parents in Spain, the case turns devastatingly personal, and the people she trusts most may be the ones she should fear.
From the sun-drenched vineyards of British Columbia's Okanagan Valley to the criminal underworld of international wine fraud, Deadly Vintage: Murder in the Vineyard delivers a rich, fast-paced thriller where old-world passion meets new-world greed. Perfect for fans of Karin Slaughter, Tess Gerritsen, and Lisa Gardner.
