Eckhard Gerber and the Gerber Architekten firm he founded are among the most renowned representatives of German architecture. For six decades, he and his team have realized a large number of public and private buildings that meet the highest architectural standards with their conceptual clarity.
The third volume of the Baukunst series once again showcases the firm's broad spectrum. The projects from 2016-2026 range from corporate headquarters and business parks to student residences, residential and hotel complexes, research laboratories and institutes, and conversions of valuable existing buildings. Since the construction of the King Fahad National Library in Riyadh 15 years ago, Gerber Architects has also made a name for itself internationally. This is evident in projects in China and on the Arabian Peninsula, including a museum, a subway station, a science center, and the spectacular large-scale project of King Salman Park in Riyadh. When completed, King Salman Park will not only be the largest urban park in the world, but also a symbol of Saudi Arabia's post-fossil fuel transition – and an extraordinary research project on how to create an oasis world as a new city center in an arid climate.
- Third volume in the Baukunst series marking the 60th anniversary of Gerber Architekten
- Opulent display of 17 selected projects and a detailed interview with Eckhard Gerber
- Insights into the large-scale King Salman Park project and the post-fossil fuel transition in Saudi Arabia
Eckhard Gerber has been managing his firm Gerber Architekten since 1966. Numerous competition successes led to the early expansion of the firm, which has also been active internationally since the turn of the millennium. With four other managing directors and an interdisciplinary team, he realizes projects in architecture, urban planning, landscape design, and interior design.
