The revolution deepens in the third volume of the Halfblood Chronicles, an epic fantasy saga where an unconventional Elvenlord is thrust into command of an army as war looms among elves, humans, and dragons.

In this powerful third installment, the spotlight shifts to Kyrtian, an Elvenlord unlike any other. When his cousin challenges his right to rule, Kyrtian unexpectedly inherits more power than he ever wanted. With an estate built on fairness rather than domination, and elite combat skills secreted away by his father’s legacy, Kyrtian is thrust into command of the elven army. As the Young Lords rebel and elven society fractures, the world shifts beneath him.

With war threatening to consume everyone, Kyrtian embarks on a perilous quest to find the Great Portal—the mythical gateway through which his race first came to this world. Along the way, he must confront his missing father’s secrets and challenge the very origin of elvenkind itself. To survive, Kyrtian must decide what kind of lord, and what kind of world, he will help create.

  • Epic fantasy featuring high-stakes strategy, shifting alliances, and war
  • A fresh perspective with a new lead protagonist stepping up while the world fractures
  • Identity and legacy collide as a son confronts the origins of his race
  • Fully revised and richly enhanced illustrated edition for new and returning fans

Mercedes Lackey is a New York Times bestselling author with nearly 150 books to her name. She began writing in her teens, developing her skills through fan fiction and later receiving mentorship from renowned author C.J. Cherryh. After moving to Oklahoma in the 1980s while working as a computer programmer, she published her first novel in 1985 and soon launched a prolific career. Her many series—including Valdemar, Elemental Masters, 500 Kingdoms, and Secret World Chronicles—have been translated into multiple languages, and she continues to be a major force in fantasy literature. Mercedes currently resides in Claremore, Oklahoma.

Andre Norton, born Alice Mary Norton in 1912, was a groundbreaking science fiction and fantasy author whose career spanned more than 70 years and over 130 novels, including the influential Witch World and Beast Master series.
