"Cardinal spins an absurdist tale of self-acceptance singed with cigarette butts, a cocaine-fueled fever dream with an acid wit." —Intermission Magazine

Robert is cursed. The moment he falls in love with someone, they’re struck by a fatal illness, mangled in a bungee-jumping accident, or flattened by a falling asteroid. He may be a selfish, lazy, coke-addicted compulsive liar. But keeping everyone at a safe distance is the only thing protecting them from befalling a terrible fate of their own.

From the author of the Governor General’s Literary Award–winning William Shakespeare’s As You Like It, A Radical Retelling, Cliff Cardinal’s outrageous new solo show is a nefarious tour de force about the misfortune we make and how to love someone when doom is inevitable.

"Fascinatingly dark and delirious."
front mezz junkies

"Cardinal’s imagination is wild, his writing style and vocabulary original and ornate...This show delivers the exhilaration I associate with viewing Cardinal’s work, a thrill-ride breathlessness that comes from wondering how far he’ll go with something and then yup, he goes there and even further."
Toronto Star
