In the context of education, excellence is usually understood in terms of grades, achievements, and intelligence, rather than what kind of thinkers or learners students are becoming. This book looks at excellence in terms of the cultivation of intellectual virtues such as open-mindedness, intellectual humility, attentiveness, inquisitiveness, and intellectual perseverance.
