The StoryPower for Kids Writing Workshop described in this manual is based on two simple but powerful ideas. First, children are more likely to practice writing if they can write about something that fascinates them. Second, children are fascinated by stories about their parents' and other relatives' growing-up years and about their own baby days.
The writing workshop helps parents and other relatives relate childhood memories. The presenter then shows children how to use writing and art to turn those stories into simple family gifts.
Designed to strengthen family bonds while developing students' writing skills, the workshop also provides parents and other relatives with simple tips for helping their children become successful writers at home through the power of family storytelling and family gift-making.
