In the heart of Great Wood lived the Father Tree.
Many years ago, the majestic and powerful Father Tree planted a circle of trees around him. He taught the trees about the bounties of the forest and warned them of the dangers that lurked beyond its peaceful borders. For a time, the circle of trees lived in harmony, growing strong under his care.
But one day, Father Tree’s enemy, Crooked Creeping Crawler, prowled into the forest, bringing temptation in the form of the forbidden wild water. Enticed by promises from the Crooked Creeping Crawler, the trees are faced with a choice: trust the wisdom of their Father Tree, or drink the wild water and discover its mysteries for themselves.
As the trees journey through the consequences of their decision, they learn lessons about temptation, family, trust, and forgiveness. A timeless forest fable, Father Tree explores what it means to choose wisely and how love remains even when we lose our way.
As a sixth generation Houstonian and seventh generation Texan, Brian C. Williams spent his formative years in the sprawling suburbs of Houston and his summers along the north fork of the Guadalupe River in Hunt, Texas. He has been writing since he was six years old and completed his MFA in Creative Writing at Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2012. Father Tree is his first book to be published.
