Ancient wisdom in poems following the lunar moon by a “lichen rabbi”
This book of poems and other short writings is designed to be a portal, with prayer and magic where kitchen healers and everyday angels gather. Moving through the Jewish lunar calendar, these poems form a journey that is deeply relational, surreal, and full of sacred whimsy. Moving from Fall to Summer, it is punctuated by lists of peculiar but charming angels, and embodied writing and artistic prompts called “writual” that read as both poetry and prayer. Garlic Moon draws heavily on feminist midrash, Jewish folktale, Jewish folk magic, and plant medicine, resulting in a poetry book that is both narrative and mystical.
