«Pretendo reivindicar con este libro la vigencia del México profundo y sus civilizaciones originales, sometidas y negadas […], pues considero una ingratitud no reconocer que, debido a esas raíces y enseñanzas, los mexicanos de hoy somos libres, fraternos, trabajadores, honestos y felices. Por esas benditas culturas nuestro país ha resistido todo tipo de calamidades y su pueblo, aunque eventualmente desfallece, siempre se levanta y vuelve a ponerse de pie para seguir caminando hacia el porvenir».
