Steven Bela Vardy is McAnulty Distinguished Professor of European History at Duquesne University. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Cross of Knighthood, issued by the President of the Republic of Hungary. He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Science and holds an honorary doctorate from King Louis the Great University. His recent publications include Ethnic Cleansing in Twentieth-Century Europe and Stalin's Gulag: The Hungarian Experience.
Agnes Huszár Várdy is adjunct professor of comparative literature at Duquesne University and the author of over one hundred articles, essays, and reviews. Her next project is a Hungarian translation of her recent novel, My Italian Summer.
