The Aramaic Levi Document is a Jewish Aramaic work from the Hellenistic period, presenting Levi’s life as a pseudepigraphic autobiography. It depicts his elevation to an apocalyptic priesthood, his training in sacrificial rituals under Isaac, and his teachings on the future of the Levitical priesthood. This volume highlights the lasting significance of Józef T. Milik’s reconstruction of the text and its manuscripts. Contributions from nineteen scholars offer new insights into Levi as an ideal priest and teacher, while examining manuscript traditions, theology, and priestly authority. The collection advances the study of Second Temple Judaism and the development of priestly ideology.
