Liitia lives in Qausuittuq (Resolute Bay), Nunavut, where there is a one-ski race at the end of each spring. Liitia’s grandma was always the fastest racer when she was a child, and Liitia wants to race too! She is determined to win the race at the end of the season, even with her old rusty one-ski. Jeffrey Kheraj grew up in Resolute Bay, spending many an hour racing his one-ski down the roads, hills, valleys and whatever snow bank could provide a steep enough surface to slide down. These contain many fond memories and telling Liitia's One-Ski has been a series of joyous, nostalgic events. One of the better parts was imparting the knowledge and teaching his own children how to use and race one-skis and having other community members join in during their visit home over 2023 Christmas. Building and tweaking the one-ski designs after years of being away from home will also be a treasured memory for years to come.
