In a region where global trade routes converge and major‑power rivalries intensify, maritime security has become one of Southeast Asia’s most urgent strategic challenges. Territorial disputes, environmental pressures, and rapid technological change are reshaping the balance of power across the region’s contested waters.
Bringing together leading scholars, practitioners, and security experts, Maritime Security and Geopolitics in Southeast Asia offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary framework for understanding the forces transforming the region’s maritime landscape. Through analytical overviews, case studies, legal assessments, and forward‑looking strategic insights, this volume examines the dynamics of regional governance - from the South China Sea dispute and boundary conflicts to piracy, maritime terrorism, and the rise of AI‑enabled surveillance and cyber threats.
Designed for academics, policymakers, naval professionals, and students of international relations, this book bridges research and real‑world practice. It provides actionable recommendations, fresh perspectives on emerging security trends, and pathways toward cooperative, sustainable maritime governance in one of the world’s most strategically vital regions.
