A visual history of Pink Floyd's album art, photography, and graphic design through Storm Thorgerson's decades of iconic work with the band.
Featuring Pink Floyd's iconic album covers, posters, singles bags, band photographs, booklet pages and the rough artwork that evolved into some of the most recognisable designs in music history, this paperback edition of Mind Over Matter presents the complete body of material, including 32 pages of artwork created for reissues since 2007.Storm Thorgerson, the world-renowned designer who died in 2013, combines his memoir of working with Pink Floyd with the artwork he created to represent the band at every stage of their career. Revisiting the albums, Thorgerson shares personal insights into the ideas and processes behind this legendary imagery.
Designers who collaborated with Thorgerson also contribute, and the book includes work from the Oh By The Way box set, the Atom Heart Mother 40th Anniversary 'Wire Cow' sculpture, the Why Pink Floyd? campaign, and the Dark Side Of The Moon 40th Anniversary images and stickers.
"Storm Thorgerson creates the kind of surreal images you feel as much as you see, images which reveal themselves over time and can be simultaneously understood and misunderstood, crystal clear yet somehow utterly confusing. There appears to be an eternal sense of mystery to his work, which – aside from its sheer aesthetic beauty – is what makes Thorgerson’s art so ineffably memorable and hypnotic" —Record Collector
"[Storm] has been a constant force in my life, both at work and in private, a shoulder to cry on and a great friend. The artworks that he created for Pink Floyd from 1968 to the present day have been an inseparable part of our work" — David Gilmour
