December 19, 1931. Hercule Poirot and Inspector Edward Catchpool are called by the police to investigate the strange murder of a man in the security wing of Norfolk Hospital. Cynthia Catchpool, the inspector’s mother, insists that both stay at her mansion to celebrate Christmas together while they solve the case. Arnold, a close friend of Cynthia, is soon to undergo surgery in the same hospital, and his family is convinced he will be the killer’s next victim. Poirot has less than a week to solve the crime, prevent further murders, and enjoy the holidays in peace.
