What do writings about the German king Henry IV (Bruno of Merseburg), about the failed conquest of Ireland (Gerald of Wales), about the wars led by Frederick Barbarossa (Rahewin) and about the Dutch fight against the Spanish armies (Famiano Strada) have in common?
