A public hit on a journalist blows the lid off a city festering with corruption

When Detective Jack Lisbon takes his daughter on a much-needed vacation to Lisbon, Portugal, the last thing he expects is to witness a chilling assassination. The victim, a university student and part-time journalist, is brutally gunned down in broad daylight on the packed No.15 tram.

Thrust into the role of special investigator, Jack must navigate a foreign city while unraveling a mystery that grows more sinister by the day. With a host of suspects, from a jilted lover to a cutthroat business tycoon, the seasoned detective must use all his skills to separate the innocent from the guilty.

But the stakes become personal when Jack is viciously attacked. Is this a warning from the killer or a random act of violence? As he balances his responsibilities as a father with his commitment to justice, Jack realizes that one thing is for certain—even in a foreign land, his uncompromising approach to police work won't be deterred.

Discovering the truth is his job. Leaving his daughter without a father is his fear…

Moving Target is the seventh action-packed novel in the acclaimed Fighting Detective series, perfect for fans of American crime-writing giants James Patterson, David Baldacci and Michael Connelly.

Blair Denholm is a born-and-bred Australian crime fiction writer whose previous jobs have been as varied as translator, debt collector, technology researcher, banking and insurance consultant, and even car-wash attendant. Over the years he has lived and worked in New York, Moscow, Munich, Abu Dhabi and Australia. His life-long love of sports is reflected in the plots of the Fighting Detective series.

His flagship series, The Fighting Detective, stars ex-boxer Detective Sergeant Jack Lisbon and is set in the steamy tropics of North Queensland, Australia. The series features heavy doses of noir crime with a vigilante justice twist. So far there are eight novels and one prequel novella in the series, with more in the pipeline.

Denholm's debut novel, SOLD, is the first in a noir trilogy featuring the detestable yet lovable one-man wrecking ball Gary Braswell. The book was long-listed for movie adaptation by Screen Queensland in 2019. The other books in this series are Sold to the Devil and Sold Dirt Cheap. Denholm has also written two thriller novels set in Russia. Captain Viktor Voloshin is a hard-boiled investigator who has to fight the establishment in order for justice to be served in his own special way. The first in this series, Revolution Day, was published in 2021, with the follow-up, The Defector, released in 2024. One more book will round off this series.

He grew up in suburban Brisbane, Queensland. After two lengthy stints in Tasmania, he now resides in the relatively cooler climes of the Southern Downs region of Queensland with his partner, Sandra, and faithful dog, Bruno.
