Mr Crump doesn't like holidays or cheer of any kind. And he especially detests children. Can anyone warm Crump's old, cold heart? A darkly comic story for fans of the Grinch and Tim Burton.
Everyone avoids curmudgeonly Mr Crump, but they don't know the old man has a secret. He LOVES teddy bears. When trick-or-treaters accidentally uncover his cuddly collection, Mr Crump feels something strange... Could it be that Mr Crump is not so heartless, after all?
'A heartwarming picture book about first impressions and second chances. Underneath Mr Crump's gruff exterior, a tender heart waits to be revealed. A moody, autumnal palette bursting with golden light enhances this seasonal tale.'—Foreword Reviews, Starred Review
'In this cantankerous-cute story a Scrooge-like figure reckons with Halloween. Earning its defenses-melting turnabout, this is a Halloween tale whose cobwebs belie real emotional architecture. Sumptuous.'—Publishers Weekly
Leon's stylishly baroque illustrations depict detailed old-world backgrounds, washed in antique gold and occasionally muted blue-gray. Together the creators make clear that even a grouch can melt with proper care. An elaborately and entrancingly illustrated redemption story.'—Kirkus Reviews
'An interesting and heartwarming tale for kids. Fans of spooky stories would enjoy it. I can definitely see the Tim Burton inspiration in the artwork. '—YA Books Central
