Arlene Garcia-Marquez (Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor of Animal Behavior and Welfare at Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine and a PAACO certified multi-species auditor. She works closely with national/international industry groups and various NGOs to advance animal welfare through training/education. She is passionate about training the next generation of animal professionals to promote welfare through science-based education.
Anna K. Johnson (Ph.D.) is a Morrill Professor of Animal Science at Iowa State University, specializing in (a) livability, (b) environmental enrichment, (c) on-farm welfare tools and, (d) animal-human interactions. She has led industry training programs and contributed to national initiatives like the Pork Quality Assurance Program Plus and the Common Swine Industry Audit. Widely published and awarded, she is recognized for advancing animal welfare science and producer education.
Allen Jimena M. Aguiriano earned her Ph.D. in One Health Sciences from Texas Tech University in 2025. Her work bridges research and practice in animal welfare, sustainable livestock, and intercultural communication. With experience across Latin America in auditing, training, and production systems, she brings a bilingual, industry-informed perspective to improving animal care and promoting worker well-being.
