Children deserve playful and joyful learning that connects deeply to the world around them. In Nature-Inspired Learning for Young Children, April E. Zajko invites early childhood educators to bring the restorative power of nature into everyday teaching practice—sparking curiosity, nurturing creativity, and fostering a lasting sense of belonging and well-being in young children. Recognizing that each program is unique in both its resources and its challenges, this practical guide shows how nature-based learning can become an integrated part of the day—not an extra item on an already full schedule. With realistic, adaptable strategies and affordable, time-tested activities, Zajko demonstrates how to weave nature into literacy, math, science, art, and social-emotional learning in ways that feel both manageable and meaningful. For educators balancing standards, schedules, and a commitment to child-centered practice, Nature-Inspired Learning for Young Children offers a clear path forward. Warm, accessible, and inspiring, this book will help teachers create learning environments where children can thrive, more connected to the natural world every day.
