This book focuses on the economic and political challenges posed by the simultaneous processes of globalisation and rapid technological change for public management and policy making in the Visegrád countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). The empirical work, based on 90 interviews and close cooperation with experts in the field, has provided valuable insights into the social consequences of the technological revolution, technical revolution, technical upgrading and economic development, public services, data management, communication and disinformation, coordination within the public sector and with private entities in the management of data and intellectual property. The research reveals a set of complex political economies with a high degree of political inertia characteristic of semi-peripheral countries, combined with various attempts to actively shape the technological flow.

Fourth Industrial Revolution represents a major challenge for a number of branches, including the public management and governance shift. These changes became the impetus for a new public policy – globotics. This book presents a very timely and professionally excellent analysis of globotics and its reflection and implementation in the core of Central Europe – the Visegrad Group. Innovativeness and strength of argument lies above-all in the emphasis on the practical implications and the response of key stakeholders. Required reading for anyone involved in public policy.
—Ladislav Cabada, Metropolitan University Prague

The monograph presents a study devoted to the defiance currently facing Visegrad Group states. The collection organizes in a well structured way an interesting analysis concerning management and governance processes under globalisation and technological changes. I found the book as very refreshing especially while taking into the account the rich intellectual value of the presented results.
