After surviving an apocalyptic cloud that devastated South Africa in Book 1, Nebulous: The Last Hurrah, Rufus and Xandr must now face a world of scorched earth and sky.
Book 2, Nebulous: Scorched Sky, follows Rufus and Xandr, their dog Flip, and their trusty old red Mazda Midge as they emerge from their refuge and embark on a journey into the unknown, guided by a vague poster message for a potential safe haven. In search of their families, food, water, and hope, they set out across a destroyed terrain where everything is shrouded in smoky fog and laced with soot and ash.
Along the way, they must also face the repercussions of their actions in Book 1, when they ventured to cross a bridge beyond mere friendship. Now, they are left with more than just uncertainty about their new world; they are also unsure about the relationship they share. There are two sides to their friendship: before the cave and after the cave.
In this new world is full of danger, Rufus and Xandr are forced to navigate terrifying and life-threatening situations. When they find shelter in an enclave spared from the cloud’s trail of destruction, it seems they might finally have reached safety. But this is no utopia. In a world stripped of resources, everyone is fighting to survive, and the enclave has become a prize worth taking. As tensions rise and danger closes in, Rufus and Xandr find themselves caught in a struggle that threatens not only their lives but the bond between them.
