Born in Hong Kong and graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Wong Leung Wo's role as a part-time instructor of a poetry workshop at the Hong Kong Arts Centre in 1995 led to the founding, together with his students, of Women shikan [We poetry journal]. He was a co-editor of Huxi Poetry (1996-1997). Wong's essays, short stories and poetry have won him multiple awards, including the 1992 Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature (Poetry) for You deng [Pomelo lantern] (1991) and the 2002 Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature (Fiction) for Yu Zhou [Curse of the fish] (2002). He is an associate professor at the Hong Kong Institute of Education.
